Six of the Best winner John and Pat Fell

Club Marine Magazine is delighted to announce that subscriber and member, Kiwi John Fell is the first winner of our Six of the Best! promotion and will soon be jetting off from his native New Zealand to enjoy the hospitality and spectacular fishing on offer at the Arnhemland Barramundi Nature Lodge in the Northern Territory.

Living in Whakatane on the east coast of the North Island, John, 63, is a keen fisherman and enjoys getting out on the water as much as he can with his wife of 35 years, Pat, on their 18ft Fi-Glass Lightning. John enjoys both salt- and freshwater fishing and is particularly looking forward to the prospect of fishing for the NT’s legendary barramundi, having spent some time in the area several years ago, though not with a fishing rod.

“I worked at Gove in Arnhem Land for 12 months 40 years ago,” he said. “We used to spear barramundi off a barge that was parked under the wharf lights. The fish used to sit at night under the lights.

“I’m really looking forward to going back to that part of Australia and experiencing the barramundi fishing.

“Special thanks to Club Marine for the opportunity to visit the lodge. I look forward to receiving the magazine, especially the articles about different fishing locations, and the boat reviews.”

John and a mate will enjoy our ‘Ultimate Fishing’ experience soon and meanwhile the winner of this issue’s ‘Ultimate Cruising’ prize will be announced in our February/March edition.
