Boat enthusiasts far and wide are urged to come out with their families and friends and have some fun on the water to benefit Aussie kids in need by raising funds for Variety the Children’s Charity. The annual Lake Macquarie Variety Splash is set to take place from February 17 to 19.
Even those without a boat can enjoy the spectacle when the Splash kicks off and watch the fleet as it leaves Toronto Wharf on Lake Macquarie. The three-day event will see all types of vessels – from houseboats and luxurious cruisers to tinnies and canoes – embark on a weekend of fun and festivities as they cruise one of Australia’s most beautiful waterways.
On the way, participants will indulge in fine food, drop anchor and visit communities along Lake Macquarie and generally enjoy a magnificent sightseeing experience. They’ll also take part in the infamous Splash Olympics – in a series of fun water games, all vessels are dressed to impress with colourful displays of streamers and flags.
Organisers say it is a must-do summer event for those wanting to experience an unforgettable time on the water, while lending a helping hand to Aussie kids in need.
