Hot on the heels of their great runner-up result in the Super Boat International World Powerboat Championships in Key West, Florida late last year, the Australian Maritimo race team has announced a supporters tour to the 2012 race, due to be held in Key West from November 7 to 11.
Team drivers Luke Durman and Ross Willaton finished second in a field made up of the best powerboat racers in the world and are determined to go one better in 2012.
“Key West was a huge outcome for us,” said Durman. “We put a lot of effort into preparing the boat and tried to race strategically so that we were there in the end, when it counted. With our experience from last year, we plan on heading back to Key West to improve on our 2011 result and we’d love to take a group of Aussies with us to enjoy the spectacle of this fantastic event,” he said.
The February/March issue carries a feature on the team and its Key West campaign.
Experienced tour operator, Wodonga Travel and Cruise is working on a variety of tour options that will put tour members right in the middle of the action as well as having the opportunity to explore some of the spectacular Caribbean destinations within a day or two’s cruising of Key West.
