Tassie tuna comp

This year’s Club Marine Australian Bluefin Tuna Contest, conducted by the Tuna Club of Tasmania, is set to be a big one, with an anticipated 90-plus boats expected to take part on April 19 and 20 at Tasmania’s Eaglehawk Neck.

News of this spectacular competition has spread Australia-wide, with many participants from other states joining in. The Tuna Club of Tasmania is proud to conduct the longest-running competition held in Australia, with the first Australian bluefin tuna contest taking place in 1966.

Contestants can look forward to seeing some of the Tassie action on TV soon – earlier this year, international TV star of ‘Extreme Fishing’ fame, Robson Green was at Eaglehawk Neck for an Extreme Fishing Team versus the Tuna Club’s Best Fishermen competition. Exciting news for a ‘local’ club, especially as these episodes for Extreme Fishing will be broadcast worldwide.
