All aboard Brissy Boat Show

The 52nd Brisbane Boat Show will be held from August 23 to 26 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Marine Queensland Events Manager, Jason Plant said the 2012 event will provide show-goers with a diverse showcase of what Queensland’s marine industry has on offer to tempt people to the water this summer.

“For many Queenslanders, owning a boat is a very affordable lifestyle option that brings families together,” Plant said.

“We’re inviting all those who have a passion for getting on the water to come along and experience all that the Brisbane Boat Show has on offer in 2012.”

This year’s show welcomes the return of Club Marine’s resident chef and seafood expert, Bart Beek on the Club Marine Cooking Stage, along with a delicious menu at the show’s seafood café.

Fishing enthusiasts can learn about the latest fishing technologies, tried and tested techniques and top tips on prime fishing locations at the Boating and Fishing stage. The Bream Fishing Tournament will see teams of anglers delivering their live catches directly to the fishing stage across the weekend.

The always popular Kids Marine Zone will keep juniors busy with plaster mould painting, rock climbing and professional fishing lessons.

Club Marine Members receive a 25 per cent discount off full-price adult tickets when they show their Club Card at the door. Kids under 15 accompanied by adult are admitted free.

Meanwhile, Marine Queensland has added another on-water show to its event calendar: Power, Sail, Paddle 2012 is set to take place from September 21 to 23 at Manly Harbour, Brisbane.

A first for the Brisbane area, event organisers say the new event will take advantage of the fantastic facilities at Manly Harbour to showcase Queensland’s marine recreational lifestyle. It’s aimed at those who may not have considered boating in the past.

With interactive displays, demonstrations and activities, the event is designed to give people a taste of the boating lifestyle and will complement the 2012 Brisbane Boat Show.
