Family Fishing Lakes school holiday program

Children trying their hand at fishing these school holidays have a greater chance of landing a catch, thanks to the Victorian Coalition Government stockings of ‘ready-to-catch’ rainbow trout.

Fisheries Victoria is stocking nearly 30,000 trout into 66 lakes in the state over the September school holiday period. These stockings will be completed by September 30 and include 1000 trout into each of Albert Park Lake and Casey Fields Lake in Cranbourne, along with 300 into Navan Park Lake in Melton.

The stocking of catchable-sized fish will hopefully encourage children to get out and have a go at fishing these school holidays and experience the excitement of their first catch.

Meanwhile, Fisheries Victoria says the 10,000 extra trout released into the Eildon Pondage for the Goulburn Fishing Festival in August would continue to provide good fishing for Eildon visitors until Christmas.
