Boating industry stalwarts Grant Senior and Luke Durman recently launched a new brand of Australian luxury cruiser, with the first Elandra Yachts model – a 53ft sports yacht – already under construction at the fledgling company’s production facility on the Gold Coast.
That first boat is due for completion mid next year, in time to be shown at the Sydney International Boat Show in July, and Senior and Durman say no more than three vessels will be built in the year following that Sydney debut.
Durman says the new brand’s products will be aimed at knowledgeable, experienced customers. “Elandra Yachts is dedicated to building semi-custom cruisers for a discerning market,” he said. “Our customers are people who have owned a number of boats over many years and know exactly what they require for their next purchase, be they coastal cruisers, retreat seekers or entertainers. It’s not the mass market we’re appealing to. Our buyers are looking for that something extra,” he added.
Business development expert Durman and naval architect Senior lead a highly qualified team that includes veteran boat builder Billy Cranston and graduate designer Tom Barry-Cotter.
