Auckland On Water Boat Show

This year’s Auckland On Water Boat Show, held from September 26-29, featured 180 exhibitors with over 90 boats on the water and dozens more on the wharf surrounding Auckland’s Viaduct Events Centre.

Visitors to the show viewed sail and motor yachts, trailable powerboats, dinghies, RIBs, marine engines and outboards, sails, electronics and a host of marine products and services.

Peter Busfield, executive director of the New Zealand Marine Industry Association (NZ Marine) said: “Those keen on larger vessels were spoilt for choice at this year’s event with both sail and motor boats over 10m in size well represented by models from around the world and close to home.”

Exhibitors expressed their confidence in an improving economy and expect this year’s season to be stronger than the last. It was considered a good sign that the show’s marina space for large boats was sold out, while many exhibitors recorded strong interest and a number of orders.

Thousands of showgoers took the opportunity to write a congratulatory message for America’s Cup contender, Emirates Team New Zealand, in a special book being created for the team on the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS) site beside the Louis Vuitton Cup. The book will go to the RNZYS headquarters at Curran Street, Westhaven where members of the public are welcome to visit and add their own messages.
