The OBC (Outboard Boating Club) Family Fishing Competition, open to all OBC club members, will take place at the club’s Auckland, New Zealand, location on March 1.
With some boats starting early at first light and others joining in later in the day to chase snapper, kahawai and kingfish, participants have an equal chance of winning a prize regardless of angling experience, say the organisers.
The OBC encourages sustainable fishing (taking what you can eat fresh) and limits entries to three fish per person in each category. Participants can keep their catch fresh by grabbing a free bag of salt ice on the way to the weigh station or have it filleted for a small donation towards the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust.
