King of the Murray
With more than 1500 competitors reaching speeds in excess of 180km/h over two days of competition, there will be no shortage of spectacular high-powered boats and talented skiers at this year’s GTS Freight Management Mildura 100, to be held from April 18 to 20.
Raced over a distance of 100km from Mildura Ski Club to Wicketts Sandbar and return, The Mildura 100 Ski Race is the final event in the four-race ‘King of the Murray’ series that encompasses the Berri 90, the Club Marine Southern 80, the Robinvale Euston 80 and the Mildura 100.
The $2000 prize goes to the most consistent outright expert team collecting points from all four races.
The King of the Murray was launched in 1987 when a prize of $500 was awarded to the boat that, in the same year, won both the Southern 80 and the Mildura 100. In 1988 Rolco
was the first boat to take out this prize.
The three-day event kicks off with a ‘show and shine’ and ‘scrutineering’ in Mildura when superbly presented boats, motorbikes and speedway vehicles will be on display. At the start/finish line at the Mildura District Ski Club, the Southern Waters Ski Show and Mildura’s Wakeboard World Champion will also take place.
