Club Marine SYC Centenary Regatta

Melbourne’s Sandringham Yacht Club will host the sixth annual Club Marine SYC Centenary Trophy Regatta on April 16. Held on Port Phillip Bay, the one-day event was first run as part of the centenary event at SYC in 2011, with some 100 boats taking part.

“It was so successful, the club decided to make it an annual event to mark the end of the summer season,” said spokesman and then SYC Club Captain Sail, Ashley Trebilcock.

Entry to the regatta is open to IRC, AMS, PHS and Classic yachts, along with J24 one-design keelboats. All other interested vessels (both power and sail) can participate in a family-friendly, rally-style event. There’s something for everyone at the regatta and, as not everyone wants to race hard at the end of the season, there’s also a pursuit-start event, which is a bit more laid-back, to include cruisers and a non-spinnaker division.

As a bonus to SYC members, those already entered into any of the club’s pointscore series will be given free entry.

After the regatta, participants can enjoy refreshments and a barbecue, dance the night away to live music at the SYC Clubhouse, or dine in style at SYC’s Harbour View Restaurant.
