Biggest Yet: Hamilton Race Week 2001
An incredible 182 yachts entered the 2001 Hahn Premium Race Week - but light winds and strong tides tested both the competitors and the race organisers. If the entries for Hamilton Island's annual Race Week were charted over the years, the graph would look like the income curve of a highly successful corporation. The number of entries this year eclipsed last year's entry list by 31.

Fun In The Sun: We review the Mariner 430

Alan Paterson, The Riviera Group's project manager, stood on the walkway of the 'Alfred's' mariner at Pittwater in Sydney chatting to a customer on his mobile phone. A new Mariner 430 was moored alongside. The second line on the phone rang. It was another customer, who was enquiring about the progress of his 430. His boat was hull number 10 and it had just gone into the engine shop at the Group's Coomera factory on the Gold Coast to have its Volvo engines fitted.

A Less Than Perfect World

As I write this, the dust of the destruction of the World Trade Centre has barely settled on the ground. Undoubtedly the worst example of terrorism in the modern era has just been committed and we as a race have proven once again that of all the creatures on this planet, we are the only ones capable of committing genuine horrors against our own kind. No other creature on Earth harms its own kind the way that we do.
