Mariner Outboards has released a completely new family of four- stroke outboard engines. The new 50hp and 60hp models round out the existing Mariner four- stroke range that begins at 4hp and continues up to 90hp. Mariner says that, on average, the fuel saving with a Mariner four-stroke is 23 per cent better when compared with a comparable two-stroke engine. Based on a four-cylinder, in-line powerhead design, the Mariner 50hp and 60hp are available in both standard and BigFoot configurations. The BigFoot designation is assigned to engines that feature larger, heavy duty gearcase and gear ratios. BigFoot models are designed to power bigger and heavier loads without the need to increase engine horsepower.

|The Murray River
By Amanda Burdon - photography by Bill Bachman
It is Australia's mightiest river, flowing some 2520km from the Australian Alps to the Southern Ocean. It passes through snow-capped mountains, rich agricultural country and parched mallee. As it winds its way through the countryside like a giant serpent, it undergoes as many transformations as the landscape it flows through. Amanda Burdon and award-winning photographer Bill Bachman, a regular contributor to Club Marine, have teamed up to produce this book, which is a guide to the many guises and moods of the river as it develops from a spirited mountain creek to a mature, majestic waterway. Over some 15 months the pair discovered the Murray's many scenic attractions, its history, ecology, the industry and the three million or so people it supports. You will escape to little-known national parks, be touched by the spirits of long-gone Aboriginal dwellers and follow in the footsteps of European pioneers. The book contains more than 200 stunning photographs, detailed area maps and a lift-out poster map of the entire course of the river. The Murray River is published by Australian Geographic and is available from Australian Geographic stores at an RRP of $34.95.
