Shimano Stradic 8000FH

Shimano has released its new Stradic 8000FH reel.

Featuring four A-RB bearings and one roller bearing, an ambidextrous handle, slow oscillation, Fluidrive 11, Dyna-balance and 5.7:1 gearing, the 8000FH holds 325 metres of six kilo line or 250 metres of eight kilo and comes with a spare aluminium spool.

Halco King Brown

The Halco team has added King Brown to its choice of lure colours.

Made up of a combination of colours, the holographic gold sides are designed to create flash, the darker back a silhouette effect and as with other Halco designs, it comes with an accentuated red chin.

The King Brown hue is available on the Laser Pro 190, 160 and 120, Trembler 110 and 70 and on the Scorpion 150, 125 and 90.

Raymarine HDFI Fishfinders

Imagine ripping along at 30 knots and still enjoying clear images of fish and bottom structure on your fishfinder – well, that’s the promise from the folks at Raymarine.

Raymarine’s High Definition Fish Imaging fishfinders are designed for vessels from 10 metres and upwards. Available in 3.5, 5 and 6-inch models, they come with Raymarine’s exclusive digital adapter transmitter/receiver and an interface which allows for the display of GPS, waypoint and position data.

They also feature sunlight viewable screens, with auto and manual zoom features (x2, 3 or 4), the ability to switch between full and split screen modes and are submersible up to one metre for 30 minutes. HDFI technology is also available on the Raymarine C and E Series display/network.

Volvo Penta D12

Volvo Penta has entered the 800hp class with its D12-800, the first of a new generation of D-12 engines. Volvo Penta has implemented a number of features on the new engine, including a new turbo, charge-air cooler and electronic management system.

“We conducted a total review and matched all parts with each other, which enabled us to increase the power output and torque,” says Anders Hard, project leader at Volvo Penta.

Seiwa System

Seiwa’s plotter-sounder system is now available in Australia through Coursemaster Autopilot dealers. The dual frequency ‘black box’ fish finder component connects to any current model Seiwa chartplotter and displays sonar echo in real time.

According to Seiwa, the unit offers enhanced target and bottom discrimination.

Now anglers can get an up-to-date listing of the Australian range of Mustad sportfishing hooks, patterns and available sizes.

Garmin marine radar scanners

Garmin International has announced the release of its GMR 20 and GMR 40 radar units.
Both models feature narrow 3.6-degree horizontal and 25-degree vertical beam width.

Transmit power is 2kW and 4kW respectively for 24nm and 36nm range.

All processing of data occurs inside the weatherproof radome and is then shared through a waterproof network connection to Garmin’s GPSMAP 3006C and GPSMAP 3010C chartplotter/multifunction displays. Radar data can also be overlaid onto chart detail and for collision avoidance, the system features MARPA (Mini Automatic Radar Plotting Aid), which allows users to track the course speed and predicted closest approach for multiple targets.

Other features include two separate user-adjustable alarmed ‘Guard Zones’, Variable Range Markers (VRM) and Electronic Bearing Line, with timed and variable transmit and standby timers.

Marine Outboard Spray Paint

K & H Surface Technologies has introduced a new range of marine outboard engine spray paints.

The range of aerosol paints is designed for quick touch-ups and comes in 11 colours matched to the most popular outboards and OEM standards.

According to K & H, the paint is fast drying, long lasting, has a high gloss and is durable in salt and fresh water.

MerCruiser Sea Core

Mercury Marine has introduced the MerCruiser Sea Core system.

According to Mercury, the system is a “revolution for sterndrive engines, offering the very best corrosion protection.” The Sea Core system has an additional 35 stainless steel components on the engine and a standard closed cooled system for protection in saltwater.

Other features include anodised sterndrive, transom and trim cylinders. Sea Core is optional to MerCruiser buyers when purchasing a sterndrive package and will initially be available on all V8s with a Bravo III drive from January 2006.

All Sea Core packages come with a 5-year corrosion warranty.

Yamaha new F250

Yamaha has released its new F250A four-stroke outboard. The V6 has a displacement of 3352cc and uses four valves per cylinder to generate 250hp.

Driving the unit is Yamaha’s Electronic Control Module (ECM), which has nine sensors located around the engine to warn the operator of any impending problems.

And in another first for Yamaha, the F250A includes Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT) to increase and decrease camshaft timing according to the engine rpm.

Other features include lightweight forged pistons and heat-treated crankshaft and connecting rods.
