Cobalt 212 bowrider

US-based manufacturer, Cobalt says its 212 bowrider offers immense storage capacity, built-in coolers and the peace of mind that comes with a product from a company that has notched up some 40 years of boat building experience.

With an overall length of 23ft 7in (7.11m) and a beam of 8ft 6in (2.59m), the 212 comes with a premium sound system, comfortable seating and rich interior appointments, the latter with deeply textured vinyls and waterproof carpets. Buyers have a choice of a number of interior colour schemes, while there is also a wide array of exterior colour and graphics options.

With a dry weight of approximately 1860kg, depending on options, the Cobalt 212 is rated to carry a maximum of 12 people and 816kg of gear. Its fuel tank has a capacity of 189lt, while it can also carry some 38lt of water. There’s a lengthy list of optional extras available, from GPS systems and wood trim packages, to adjustable high-backed chairs and a Captain’s Call exhaust system.

The 212 has a Kevlar-reinforced hull and a 21-degree deadrise at the transom, Cobalt says the 212 slices along flat or open water like the proverbial hot knife through butter. Power options range from 220hp to 320hp for the inboard powerplants.

There is a walk-through at the transom, along with an extended swim platform, and Cobalt says the entire package is covered by its “industry benchmark” warranty – 10 years on the hull and deck and five years on the powertrain.

Hampton 680 Pilothouse

Australasian Marine Imports agent, Leigh-Smith Cruiser Sales has recently announced the Australian debut of the Hampton 680 Pilothouse. With over 20 years of experience, the Hampton Yachts Boat Building Company specialises in constructing semi-custom yachts with a focus on comfort, safety, and dependable cruising.

The 18ft 2in beam of the Hampton 680 Pilothouse allows for comfortable living space above, whilst also accommodating a full beam master stateroom and two spacious staterooms below, served by two elegant marble-lined en suites. Amenities and interiors can be custom-designed to each owner’s specifications.

Hampton says the pilothouse of the 680 offers excellent visability, while the large instrument panel allows for easy installation of the latest instrumentation and navigation equipment.

A settee with an adjustable table and burl inlays can be converted to a dinette for six at the dock. The flybridge offers a large seating area, with adjustable table, helm bench, jump seat, wet bar, refrigerator and barbecue space.

The hull is solid fibreglass, reinforced with two layers of Kevlar from chine to chine and three layers of Kevlar in the forward collision zone. The engineroom has been designed with an emphasis on easy access to all mechanical components and filters.

When cruising, the 680’s planing hull offers a stable ride. According to Hampton Yachts, the modified deep-V design, combined with high forward deadrise sections, makes for a smooth entry into head seas. The design also incorporates propeller tunnels to lower the shaft angle, which, Hampton points out, results in greater efficiency and directional stability.

Mustang M43 Sports Flybridge

Australian performance cruiser manufacturer, Mustang has unveiled a new three-cabin layout for its recently-released IPS-powered M43 Sports Flybridge model. Mustang says the IPS system sees the craft’s engines positioned underneath the cockpit floor, which liberates considerable space under the saloon floor and allows for the inclusion of a third cabin plus additional storage space.

As such, the craft boasts three private cabins comprising a sizeable master stateroom with queen-size island berth, a starboard guest cabin with double bunks and a further additional guest cabin on the port side, the latter featuring a double berth.

Buyers will have a choice of two different bathroom options – either two separate head and shower cubicles, or two combined shower/head facilities.

Mustang says the rest of the model’s layout remains essentially unchanged, with an aft galley, Nyotah timbers, wrap-around glass to the saloon and European-style lounges and fittings.

The M43 has an overall length of 14.39m (47ft 3in) and a beam of 4.6m (15ft 1in), and tips the scales at 13.5 tons. Able to carry some 1900lt of fuel, the M43 comes with a water capacity of 670lt.

The three-cabin M43 Sports Flybridge received a positive reception at its debut at the 2008 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and will also feature at the coming Sydney International Boat Show.
