Suzuki DF40A and DF50A
Suzuki recently announced the launch of two new fuel-efficient, high-performance four-stroke outboard motors – the new generation DF40A and DF50A. The new models boast a host of technical features which, says Suzuki, combine to give them increased fuel efficiency and performance, while weighing less and fitting on the transom in a more compact manner.
According to Suzuki, its advanced Lean Burn Control technology takes full advantage of sensors monitoring engine performance and ambient environmental conditions. Using this input, the Lean Burn Control predicts engine needs to provide the fuel injection system with the right mixture of air and fuel, delivering optimal fuel efficiency.
These new engines also feature Suzuki’s maintenance-free oil-bathed timing chain; the first time this feature has ever been offered in the 40hp and 50hp classes.
Suzuki says the compact size and light weight of the new DF40A and DF50A make them an ideal power match for a wide variety of boats, including FRP pleasure boats, fishing boats, small RIBs and aluminium boats. In particular, these new outboards will be ideal for entry-level boating.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II regatta chronograph
The Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master II regatta chronograph is the first watch to have a programmable countdown feature with a mechanical memory, which gives it the advantage of being able to be set according to the countdown time of each regatta.
Intended for lovers of yachting as well as for experienced skippers, it is an indispensable tool at the starting line of regattas. With the Yacht-Master II, it is possible to program a countdown of 0 to 10 minutes. During the starting sequences, it can be synchronised to the official countdown.
This new timepiece draws on all of Rolex’s watchmaking know-how and benefits from the latest manufacturing techniques. A unique interaction between the movement, the case and the bezel makes the Yacht-Master II a completely new creation; a new generation of watch.
Crafted from a solid block of 18ct yellow or white gold, the Yacht-Master II case has a diameter of 42.6mm. The Ring Command bezel is available in two versions: a blue ceramic disc having numerals engraved in yellow gold for the 18ct yellow gold version, or in one-piece platinum with raised numerals for the 18ct white gold version.

Mercury Marine offers a large range of propellers – more than 700, including custom-built item – which can be used not just on Mercury engines, but on competitor brand engines too. Mercury says its propeller range has standout features like a tough X7 Alloy construction, a Performance Vent System and a Flo-Torq II Hub System.
Far stronger and durable than conventional stainless steel, X7 Alloy allows Mercury to design propellers that are impossible to make with conventional metals.
Exclusive to Mercury, the Performance Vent System allows the boat owner to custom tune the venting of his or her propeller blades to maintain optimum performance, despite changes in load and environment.
The Flo-Torq II Hub System provides maximum protection to the engine, engine drive and propeller. Its greater flexibility takes more of the strain when the engine is shifted into gear and if there’s ever an underwater collision, the Flo-Torq II has been designed to break away quickly, significantly reducing any possible damage.

Honda V6 four-stroke outboards
Honda’s flagship outboard series – the BF175/200/225 – has undergone a series of minor model changes. The latest generation of large-displacement V6 four-stroke EFI outboards has been reworked and refined to deliver more torque, even greater fuel efficiency, and incorporate NMEA 2000 compatibility (engine-to-electronics data communication) among other advantages, says Honda.
According to Honda, the incorporation of its revolutionary Boosted Low Speed Torque (BLAST™) air/fuel ratio linked ignition timing control technology delivers explosive holeshot performance to get boats on the plane quicker than ever. Activated by sudden throttle movement, BLAST makes available the greatest amount of torque at the precise moment it’s required.
Among other notable changes, a new gearcase – with a dramatically more hydrodynamic profile – reduces water resistance and improves acceleration, and a new water intake screen provides better cooling for maximum motor efficiency. A freshly-designed anti-cavitation plate also reduces engine splash, says Honda, while additional sacrificial anodes ensure increased corrosion resistance for extended durability.

The TPU construction ensures that your gear is being well looked after and you will be able to put on a clean, dry set of clothes at the end of the day, no matter how wet the conditions.
Other bags in the range are a 35lt Dry Pack (TPU) and a medium or large Dry Bag (210D Nylon)

Waterbuoy to the rescue
A strong, self-activating miniature floatation device, Waterbuoy can lift a weight of up to 1kg back to the surface, making it perfect for items such as car keys, mobile phones, cameras and other valuable items.
Waterbuoy’s unique, patented trigger mechanism is designed to activate seconds after submersion. This means your valuable item won’t drift or sink too far before resurfacing.
Waterbuoy is also the only miniature floatation device that is visible at night, with a flashing light that is visible from some distance. More than 80 per cent of items lost overboard are lost during low light, usually when loading or unloading the boat in the early morning or late in the evening.
Designed using a special balloon and seals, Waterbuoy stays afloat for 24 hours, flashing away, giving you plenty of time to find it and recover it – day or night.
