RFD Cyclone 150N
World-leading supplier of marine safety products, RFD says its newest personal flotation device, the Cyclone 150N, represents a major breakthrough in PFDs.
According to RFD, the Cyclone 150N not only achieves top-level performance in buoyancy, it also delivers superior comfort. The RFD Cyclone 150N jacket is suitable for fishing, sailing and all forms of boating, says RFD. And it is officially certified to meet all the stringent requirements of the new Australian PFD Standards.
It is very compact, with the internal bladder, firing mechanism and COČ gas bottle all fitting very neatly inside the black valise. Suitable for both male and female wearers, the Cyclone 150N is available in a range of configurations. Options include manual or auto inflate, and an optional harness loop and crotch strap.
Standard features common to all Cyclone 150N models include a red lifting handle manufactured from robust webbing fabric, which is an important aid during the rescue of a wearer while in the water.
There is also an adjustable back strap and a soft neoprene collar, which makes the jacket easy to wear and avoids chafing on the back of the neck when worn for an extended period.

Titan Digital Day/Night Vision Binocular
R Electronics has launched OceanView’s first hand-held night vision binocular. Available in a range of models, the combination binocular/camera offers 8x, 11x and 1-8x ‘vario’ magnification.
The new Titan Digital Day/Night Vision Binocular features a four-stage automatic control and an anti-blooming system, which reduces the blooming (or ‘halo’) effect, which is when a ‘halo’ can be seen around visible light sources.
R Electronics says the binocular is reliable and cost-effective, and can operate in lighting conditions ranging from 0.0005 lux (star light) to 30,000 lux (sunny day). It also comes with an IR illuminator with 800nm wavelength, for use in total darkness.
The IR illuminator is removable from the binocular, which also has a standard video output for recording to DVR or on-screen viewing. Other features include a large 2.5in, high-resolution TFT-LCD monitor with brightness control, recording capability on standard composite video, state-of-the-art CCD (Charged Coupled Device) technology and the unit is battery rechargeable via mains or a 12V adaptor.

Oceantalk Twin Antenna Superdigi HD Mobile TV receiver
Marine electronic systems specialist, Oceantalk has turned its attention from helping boaties catch fish to helping them catch TV programs, with its newest product: the Twin Antenna Superdigi HD Mobile TV receiver.
Oceantalk says the twin-antenna design ensures one of both aerials is always in the right position to capture TV signals. This increases the reception range by 40 per cent over single-antenna models. An in-built ‘diversity’ receiver combines the strong and weak signals, resulting in a consistently clear picture, while Oceantalk claims the sound system is consistently clear, too, delivering Dolby-quality audio. Oceantalk is also confident that the unit will receive 3D TV when it becomes available.
Oceantalk says the Twin Antenna Superdigi HD Mobile TV receiver is built to handle the demanding marine environment, ensuring that even at speeds of 50 knots (93km/h) on the water, if there’s a TV signal overhead, the twin antennae will capture it. Easily operated by a remote control, the Oceantalk unit comes with an installation kit, which includes everything needed to install digital TV on yachts or power boats.

Simrad BSM-2 Broadband Sounder
Simrad has launched its next-generation BSM-2 Broadband Sounder module, which it claims delivers detailed mid-water definition and deep-water penetration.
Designed with serious sport-fishing anglers and dedicated commercial fishermen in mind, the BSM-2 is for use with Simrad’s NSE and NSO multifunction displays. Simrad says the new sonar module delivers five times greater target resolution than comparable offshore performance sounders, with readings possible for depths greater than 3000m (10,000ft).
Building from Simrad’s BSM-1 Sounder technology, the BSM-2 provides enhanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP), and is the first sonar to incorporate Frequency Sweeping Pulse Compression technology – also known as ‘CHIRP’ – in a recreational application, producing higher resolution, greater depths and less noise.
The BSM-2, coupled with the new Airmar broadband transducer lineup, provides digitally-purified, crystal-clear images of individual fish markings and clear separation of fish from other targets, structures, thermoclines and the bottom – in both shallow and ultra-deep water, says Simrad.
Housed in a die-cast aluminium waterproof black box, the BSM-2 is easy to install, mounts almost anywhere and is plug-and-play compatible with NSE/NSO multifunction systems via high-speed Ethernet connection. Compatible with 12V or 24V DC power systems, the module has an IPx6 water-resistant rating and is covered by a two-year warranty.
