What's covered

  • Grounding inspection cover
    Provides cover for the reasonable cost of inspecting the hull for any damage or loss covered under your policy, if your boat accidentally runs aground.
  • Accidental damage or loss, theft or malicious damage
    Provides cover for your boat, motor(s), trailer, equipment, gear and accessories against theft or malicious damage, and accidental damage or loss. Plus, if your boat is involved in a collision and you’re not at fault, the excess may be waived.
  • Negligent repairs cover
    Provides cover for accidental loss or damage caused by negligent repairs, as long as the repairs were done by a repairer who is not you or your employee.
  • Covered for personal use
    Provides cover for personal use of your vessel.
  • Personal and employee personal effects
    Provides cover for accidental loss or damage to clothing, shoes, waterproof gear, wetsuits, prescription glasses, manchester, coolers, insulated flasks and hygiene items up to $5,000 (incl GST) per item, and up to $50,000 (incl GST) total (not in addition to Section 1 limit).
  • Fishing gear, water ski and dive equipment, tools and accessories
    Provides cover for accidental loss or damage to fishing gear (excludes tackles, lures and braids), water ski and dive equipment, tools and accessories up to $5,000 (incl GST) per item, and up to $50,000 (incl GST) total (not in addition to Section 1 limit).
  • Automatic cover for your tender
    Provides automatic cover for your tender (if your boat has one). Including water skiers liability for your tender providing cover for any person engaged in water skiing, wakeboarding or aquaplaning activities provided they’re using recognised and commercially manufactured equipment and being towed by your boat tender with your permission.
  • Jetty liability cover
    Provides cover for injury or accidental death to any person arising from embarking or disembarking your boat using a private jetty or pontoon which is owned or leased by you, provided the jetty/pontoon is maintained and serviced every two years.
  • Fixed fire suppression appliances
    Provides up to $10,000 (incl GST) to cover replacement of fixed fire suppression appliances and any associated professional cleaning costs resultant from a sudden, spontaneous and complete discharge of any permanently fixed fire suppression appliances fitted on board your boat. Excluding where the fire suppression appliance is being tested, fitted, maintained, recharged or otherwise in use or being worked upon.
  • Legal liability cover
    Provides legal liability cover for injury and property damage arising from the use of your boat by you or by a person operating it with your permission.
  • Removal of wreck liability
    Provides cover for costs incurred from the raising, recovery and disposal of your wrecked boat, where ordered by government or local authority, following an incident covered under Section 1 of the policy.
  • Cover for pollution
    Provides cover up to $1,000,000 (incl GST) for sudden and accidental discharge, release or escape of fuel, lubricants or sewage from the holding tanks of your boat.
  • Injury and accidental death
    Provides cover for an insured person for accidental death or for certain categories of significant permanent personal injury up to $75,000 (incl GST) plus $20,000 (incl GST) funeral expenses.
  • Club Care Benefits
    Provides up to $20,000 (incl GST) assistance following an emergency or unforeseen incident which gives rise to a claim, including:
    • emergency fuel delivery
    • returning your boat to your home or storage location following repairs
    • reasonable costs of temporary accommodation and transportation home
  • Land towing costs
    Provides cover up to $1,500 (incl GST) to tow your boat on land to the nearest repairer, following a covered incident.
  • No Claim Bonus
    You could get up to 25% off your premium with the No Claim Bonus, depending on your claims history.
  • Salvage charges
    Provides cover to recover your boat or move it to safety if the boat is damaged by a covered incident. Limits apply.
  • Geographical limits
    Provides cover for your boat Australia-wide, including up to 250 nautical miles offshore.
  • Nil pen excess
    If your boat is damaged or stolen while at your nominated berth, pen, jetty or pontoon the excess may be waived.
  • Temporary cover
    Provides temporary cover for a replacement boat for up to 30 days from the purchase date. The replacement boat will be covered up to its purchase price or the original boat's sum insured, whichever is lesser.
  • Temporary extension
    If your policy expires while you are in your boat at sea, we will provide a temporary extension until 24 hours after your boat arrives at its next port.
  • 14-day cooling off period
    You can cancel your policy within 14 days from the date of issue (or start date of a renewed policy) and we’ll refund your premium in full, provided you haven’t made a claim or need to make one.

Your policy does not cover any claim caused by, arising from, or any way connected with:

  • Condition or wear and tear
    Wear and tear, the unseaworthiness, and lack of repair or maintenance of the boat.
  • Delamination, deterioration, corrosion and electrolysis
    Delamination, deterioration, corrosion, electrolysis, osmosis and blistering, unless there is evidence of accidental physical impact with a solid object which has caused a deformation in part of the hull from which the condition has propagated.
  • Persons under the influence
    Where you were aware that the boat was under the control of a person under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • Reasonable care
    Your recklessness, deliberate actions, misconduct or lack of reasonable care in the safeguard or protection of your boat.
  • Operating outside of limits
    Your boat being operated outside the limits imposed by any certificate of construction and performance, licence, registration or similar documentation, including with more than the maximum number of passengers or with a load, greater than that recommended by the manufacturer or which you are licenced to carry.

  • Optional loss of hire cover
    You have the flexibility to add cover for loss of net income due to your boat being partially or totally prevented from being used to earn income in relation to the agreed usage, as a result of accidental loss or damage incident, covered under Section 1. This cover only applies if specified as applicable in your schedule. Please note that this cover is subject to all other policy terms, conditions, limits and exclusions, other than the Section 1 special exclusion for consequential loss.
  • Optional fare paying passenger liability
    You have the flexibility to add legal liability cover for fare paying passengers where death or injury arises while on your boat, or embarking and disembarking using the private jetty or pontoon listed on your schedule, provided the jetty/pontoon is regularly maintained and serviced every two years. Also by food or drink prepared and served by you or your employees and damage to personal effects of a fare paying passenger while on your boat.
