The Women in Recreational Fishing Network (WIRF) in Victoria celebrated its five-year anniversary on International Women’s Day, March 8. Boasting more than 4,000 members, WIRF is expanding – supported by Better Boating Victoria, the Women in Recreational Fishing and Boating (WIRFAB) will assist more women to get into boating.
WIRF leaders recently attended the Ultimate Fishing Expo, held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in February, with a popular information stand, fishing talks, women’s and kids casting clinics, and Q&A panels on the main stage.
At the World Recreational Fishing Conference following the expo, the WIRF network was awarded Best Project in Promoting Diverse and Inclusive Participation in Recreational Fishing, a fitting accolade for the team and recognition on the world stage.
