Mark Rothfield

Club Marine Content Director Mark Rothfield is a highly respected and award-winning veteran of Australian marine journalism, with a career spanning more than 45 years as a writer, editor, photographer, videographer and on-air presenter.

As a 17-year cadet reporter, Mark began writing a syndicated weekly boating column for Fairfax Newspapers that ran continuously until 2020. He was the youngest-ever editor of the former Modern Boating magazine (1989-2001), head judge for the Australian Boat of the Year awards (1996-2001) and a selection panel member for the Australian Sailor of the Year Awards.

Mark is a genuine all-rounder, vastly experienced in evaluating both power and sail craft of all sizes while also specialising in highly informative and authoritative technical articles. He has contributed to Club Marine Magazine since 2007, taking on his current full-time role in 2022. He brings a wealth of fresh ideas and unbridled passion to further enhance Club Marine Magazine’s standing as the boating industry’s premier publication and video source.

He learned to sail at the age of 4 and, when away from the keyboard, loves nothing more than spending time on his trailer sailer, cruising in his 5.4m RIB, windsurfing, fishing and more.
