Colmslie Wharves
Quick overview
  • First of its kind: Colmslie Wharves is leading the way as a dedicated commercial marina in the Brisbane region.
  • Variety of berths: Colmslie Wharves will cater for commercial vessels ranging from 12m to 50m.
  • Fit for purpose: Offering practical facilities and a central location, Colmslie Wharves will reduce down time for working vessels.

Brisbane’s bustling marine tourism, transport and charter services will soon get a much-needed boost, with construction now well advanced on the Colmslie Wharves project.

The ‘River City’ has been struggling to keep its marine infrastructure in step with the needs of the growing commercial fleet, making the purpose-built commercial marina a real game-changer.

Strategically located at Morningside, Colmslie Wharves will provide 50 secure and permanent berths catering exclusively for commercial vessels ranging from 12m to 50m.

Unlike a recreational facility, Colmslie Wharves has been designed around the practical realities of running a marine business.

Berths will feature power and water, a pump-out station and secure gated access, while convenient parking will help crews load supplies, prepare vessels and turn them around efficiently. Fuel, provisioning and in-water servicing will also be close at hand.

Location is another advantage. Positioned just 9km from the Brisbane CBD and some 13km from Moreton Bay, the marina will provide ready access to city destinations upstream and the islands and open water downstream. Vessels can spend more time working rather than shuttling between facilities.

For established operators, there’s scope to add vessels, introduce new itineraries or consolidate operations. Interstate businesses can also establish a foothold in one of Australia’s fastest-growing cities.

This could include boutique charters, water taxis, private ferries, fishing trips, wildlife tours and high-speed bay adventures. Maybe sunset dining cruises, island transfers, new connections between the CBD and Moreton Bay … or something left-field, like hot tub boats.

Whatever the vision, Australia’s 2032 Olympic host city will finally have the commercial marina infrastructure it needs to thrive.

Colmslie Wharves is being delivered by Raptis Investments on a site with 70 years of marine history. The Queensland Government’s Growing Tourism Fund is supporting the project, recognising that the marina represents more than new berths – it’s an investment in Brisbane’s working river that will create hundreds of jobs and inject millions of dollars into the local economy.
